WHO ARE WE
We chose to
call ourselves MANDAKINI because of the awe it inspires
in us—its marvel, and its energy, for without marvel and energy,
life itself loses its very meaning. (In Feng Shui - an ancient
Chinese art of finding direction and placement – this energy is
called chi).
MANDAKINI RESIDENCIES, therefore, is about beauty and energy. We
build beautiful apartments, but they are also designed with
people in mind—people who will choose to live in them.
In apartments not designed to allow for the free flow of energy
within them, energy gets trapped in nooks and corners. This
trapped, stale energy can have a negative influence on the lives
of the people living in them—whether they know it or not. In
designing MANDAKINI apartments, we have done our best to ensure
that our apartments, in deed the whole complex, allow for
maximum space and channels for free flow of energy. Just have a
look at the way the lobbies have been designed. There are no
walls when you step out of the elevator—it is open space.
Individual apartments are designed so that they have plentiful
cross-ventilation and natural light. You do not find nooks and
crannies in MANDAKINI apartments.
THE
COMPANY
MANDAKINI RESIDENCIES LTD. is a grouping of like-minded people
who refuse to accept the mundane. Spearheaded by three finance
professionals with excellent credentials, and supported by a
team of architects and engineers sharing the same idealism and
standards, MANDAKINI RESIDENCIES has as its objective, building
homes with people as the central interest, and for a reasonable
return.
The company is BOI (Board of Investment) approved, which means
that it enjoys a privileged status in terms of duty concessions
for materials imported for construction purposes. The company
will use this advantage to the maximum effect in sourcing
materials best suited for our projects, and to reflect any
savings in pricing of the units.
We at MANDAKINI do not believe in building apartments just to
make money—we want to build things we can be proud of.
TEAM
MANDAKINI
MR. A T P Edirisinghe F.C.A. (Chairman) is a highly
respected and experienced chartered accountant in the country.
Besides being the chief partner of his own firm of chartered
accountants, he heads a number of other companies. He also has
been a consultant to many construction projects including
star-rated hotels.
Ms. Raji Goonewardene F.C.A. (Director) worked for over
20 years for John Keells Ltd., the premier blue chip of the
country, and retired recently as the Finance Director of the
company’s Food Sector.
Mr. Justin Belagamage B.A., C.A. (Director) Career
banker, chartered accountant, management consultant, executive
trainer, and writer.
Ms. Hiranti Welandawe B.Sc. (BE), M.Sc. (Arch.), M. Arch.
(Helsinki), A.R.I.B.A., F.I.A. (SL)., C.. Arch. (Architect)
Managing director of HW Architects and consultant urban designer
in the Western Region Mega-polis Master Planning Team. Receiver
of several awards for her innovative designs in architecture,
her work has been featured in numerous international
publications.
Mr. Deepal Wickramasinghe B.Tech., M.S.E (London) P.Eng.
(Consultant structural engineer) has over 25 years
experience in structural design and has managed many prestigious
projects including Kandalama, Blue Water, and Sinbad Hotels,
with the architectural legend, late Mr. Geoffrey Bawa.
Currently, he is managing the structural designs for the Four
Season’s in Maldives and Aman Resorts in Tangalle, Sri Lanka.
Mr. Upul Shantha B.Sc. (QS)., P.G. Dip (cons. Man)., A.I.Q.S
(SL) (Consultant Quantity Surveyor) is a member of the Sri
Lanka Institute of Quantity Surveyors and has over 12 years
experience in the field. He has been involved in several upscale
housing projects including Crescat and Premier Pacific.
Mr. Vijith Perera B.Sc. (Eng.)., M.I.E (SL)., M.I.Prod.E.,
M.A.S.H.R.A.E., C.Eng. (Consultant M&E Engineer) A chartered
engineer with wide experience in industry and hotel sectors and
specialized in building services. He has lent his service to
many notable development ventures including Tea Factory Hotel,
Club Palm Bay Hotel, and Sun City Properties.
Neil De Silva (Project promoter) CEO and Founder Member
of Norwich International Consultants. N.I.C. has been recognized
as the leading real estate promoter in Bahrain for landmark
projects. His extensive experience in the market has added value
to international media interviews with BBC Radio, German Prime
Time TV, UK & US Financial Times and many GCC & world wide
magazines. N.I.C. has become the joint venture partner for
Bahrain with COLLIERS INTERNATIONAL recognized as the second
largest Real Estate Company in the world with 253 offices around
the globe.
Neil is based in Bahrain but active in a many European markets
including UK, Spain, Italy, and UAE.
